Red on Green

When I lived back in Bletchley I would often pass through this open, suburban alleyway, with this wall of leaves, all dark green and glossy against the wooden fence, on the way to my local library. They always looked pretty, but come autumn, their leaves would transform almost overnight, from dark green to bright, vibrant red, to herald the coming season.
